There is no greater way to immortalize your family pet than to have his or her portrait painted! I offer portraits in multiple sizes, in acrylic on canvas or watercolor on cold press paper. To best capture your pet, I ask that you submit several of your best photos. I’ll advise you on the composition, and whether or not to include a background. As I complete a pet portrait, I initially sketch your pet in pencil. From there, depending on the medium we choose, I will begin layering in color. Interestingly, watercolor and acrylic portraits involve different methods of layering color. For both, I begin with the eyes of your pet - it’s the window to their soul! Then, if a watercolor, I fill in the lightest, softest colors first, and gradually add in the darker, deeper tones for shadow and dimension. For acrylic on canvas, I would add in the darker deeper shades first, and then add the highlights at the end and finish up the details with a small round brush. Whatever your reason for capturing your pet, I’m here to help you turn a photo into a beautiful piece of art.
